BMXer, Tim Strange Announces Final Build of Season Two for TV's Search and Restore |
Lewisburg TN, January 29, 2013: The focus of Search and Restore is on finding the family treasures and lost causes, bringing them all back to life. From coast to coast, host Tim Strange, and volunteer teams of pros will donate their time restoring rides nationwide to those worthy of a helping hand. Search & Restore is not just a show for automotive enthusiasts, but a great show that dad can watch with his family - there is a story and best of all NO DRAMA.Tim Strange, award-winning rod builder, BMXer and owner of Strange Motion is the host and Lead Builder of Search and Restore. "The show is a feel-good, give back type of show," said Strange. "We build projects for deserving people with touching or hard-luck stories. Each project we build gets four half-hour shows. We build four projects each season so there will be 16 episodes." "There’s no better feeling than helping someone regain that sense of hope after they feel like they’ve lost everything," Strange said. "Thanks to our volunteer build teams and the hosts of the other PowerBlock shows, we’re able to help someone pick up the pieces, turn a dream into a reality and have fun doing it." February 2, 2013 SPIKE TV will run the final build of season two of Search and Restore. It will run as a two hour special, you will see the beginning and end of the build. On Sunday February 3, 2013 SPIKE TV will do a rerun of Saturday’s show. The final build of the season, Host, Tim Strange, calls among many friends in the Hot Rod Industry to volunteer their time for a firefighter who spends his free time helping others. Ty Cardona sold his Barracuda as a teen to start a family. 26 years later his kids are grown, and a replacement Mopar sits in his driveway undone. Knowing the bond of the firefighters, Tim contacted a longtime friend and Firefighter Ricky White to make this build even more special. Tim and Ricky met racing BMX. Tim has been racing BMX since he was 13 years old. Currently Tim and wife, Carrie are very active in the sport and run a factory team, Strange Motion/Kicker. Strange and his crew, along with the helping hands and support from WD40, completely build a 1974 Challenger in four weeks, putting in more than 3,000 hours of labor. A three- or four-man shop, he said, would have finished the project in about a year. After receiving nearly 300,000 submissions from viewers, Search and Restore is PowerBlock's answer to ignite hope back into the lives of those in need of a helping hand. Search and Restore is not a "How to" show, like the other PowerBlock shows. |

DK Australia Factory Team Race Report |

Images – JN Media |
Round 3 & 4 Australian National Series 26th-27th January 2013 Well the dust had finally settled from the first 2 rounds of the Australian BMX National Series and it was now time for the 3rd and 4th round in sunny Perth. All the DK riders had been training hard during the 3 week break and were ready to lay down some rubber. With our newest signing Rachel Jones (Junior Elite Woman) ready to have her first race in the green and black, there was going to be some exciting times for the team. A few questions going around the pit area were, could Anthony Dean, Aaron Nottle and Matt White back up their wins from Nerang and take out the top spots in Perth? The answer to that was YES they could. ROUND 3: Elite Men was going to have some exciting racing, with some top athletes from Australia and New Zealand in the action. Once again DK Athlete Anthony Dean stepped up to the plate to clean sweep every lap and storm home for the win in the main event. Rachel Jones in her first race for DK, had the Junior and Elite woman combined due to lack of riders in Elite Woman. Rach was on fire all day, taking wins during the moto’s but unfortunately a crash in the main cost her a chance to challenge for a top spot. In Junior Elite, Aaron Nottle was looking good all day but when it came time for the final, he had to settle for 2nd behind a kiwi rider. Still not bad for his first year in Junior Elite. Blake Moore also made his first main for the season but got stuck wide and settled for 6th place. Vet Pro was up next and DK Team Manager, Corey Stafford was on fire during the moto’s but after leading the final to the last corner, a mishap over a jump cost him the win and he had to settle for 3rd. Matt White was flying during practice and brought that to racing, winning every lap and making it through to the main event in 15 boys. When the gate dropped, Matt lead from the start to finish, taking the win on day 1. ROUND 4: Once again in Elite Men, DK Athlete Anthony Dean turned up with taking the double win on his mind. Anthony once again cruised through his moto’s and semi, putting himself in the main event. Once the gate dropped, Anthony hit the front and took the win, making it a double for the weekend. Another big weekend for the man from South Australia. Rachel Jones turned up Sunday wanting to forget about the main from Saturday and once again showed that she has a bright future in BMX with some great display of skill. After making the main again in Elite Woman as a junior rider, she battled with Olympian Lauren Reynolds all the way to the line and almost took the win but had to settle for 2nd by 1/100th of a second. Aaron Nottle also turned up on Sunday with a point to prove and he did just that, leading from the front all day. When the gate dropped for the final, he led from start to finish taking 3 wins from 4 for the season and cementing his place as series leader. Vet Pro Corey Stafford was riding well and taking wins in moto’s but in the final, he unclipped out of the gate and had to fight his way through the field. He almost took the win, but had to settle for 2nd. Matt White was looking good once again and proved what a great future he has in the sport. Matt went on to double for the weekend taking out the final in the 15 boys class and is also the series leader. Other DK riders, Blake Moore and Mitch Hoad had a tough day in the office, not quite making it through to the main events but showed good form. Luke Madill also made the main on the Sunday but got held wide and had to settle for 5th. Luke didn’t crash all weekend, which made a change from Nerang. After the weekend, we have 3 Athletes that have now taken 3 from 4 wins, which is a great result for the Green and Black army. A new A.R.T. is coming! |
After a very busy year 2012, ART BMX is coming back in 2013 with a new formula more suitable for readers of each country. The entire team developed a new system which offers a different content for each country and multilingual: a free downloadable monthly web magazine that highlights each national scene without forgetting, of course, international news. The ART BMX printed version doesn’t disappear though since it will have a new formula as well: a quarterly format more consistent, based on exclusivity with in depth covered topics, keeping the lifestyle orientation aspect that is the genuine trademark of the magazine. All disciplines will be represented with now over 30 pages about BMX Race. Our aim is to offer you the best of the race by honoring the elite world through quality articles illustrated with beautiful pictures. Our website will be refreshed as well, with more news and a daily update. Given the importance of the Internet in our sport, we had to adapt our media to your needs and expectations in terms of news and it is with that objective in mind that we have recruited new members within the creative team. We will introduce them to you very soon, they will bring a new energy to the magazine, both on a national or international level.. Yvan Lapraz Launches Royalty BMX! |
Yvan Lapraz, AA pro racer from Switzerland currently living in southern California has started his own frame company called Royalty BMX. The Royalty frames have been designed, developed and tested by BMX World Champion Yvan Lapraz. After a month of riding the prototype frame, Yvan is really happy with the bike and has started producing the frames that will be available to the public in about two weeks. When Yvan decided to start his own brand, he wanted to make very high quality aluminum frames made in the USA, and that's exactly what he did. He said that this is the stiffest frame he has ever rode. The stiffness of the frame helps a lot out the gate and on the track, the fact that the frame pretty much don't flex makes you acceleration a lot more efficient and it also helps increasing your track speed. With the sport getting more and more professional and the racing more competitive, we wanted to offer the best frames to make the difference, that's why our frames have been designs by a current top Elite rider for high level racing, they will help every riders, from young kids to the top pros to get on step closer to the top of the podium. Our frames will be available in 6 different sizes: Expert, Expert XL, Pro, Pro XL and Pro XXL and in 3 different colors: White, dark grey and candy red. With the frame, we have also designed integrated chain tensioners that will be available as an option when purchasing the frame. Integrated chain tensioners look a lot better and they are a lot easier to work on. Our frames also fit regular chain tensioners. The prototype frame you see here is made for a 20mm rear axle, but the frames we sell are with a regular 10mm axle. The frames retail for 469$ and the integrated chain tensioners for 19$. Our website is not done yet, but you can already see the geometries of the frames : RoyaltyBMXbikes.com And if you have any questions or need any information, please contact us at : info@royaltybmxbikes.com We post all our news on Facebook, so check : www.facebook.com/royaltybmxbikes |

BMXer Abby Graalman Needs Your Help To Win |
Status Fitness magazine Cover! |
|
My
name is Abby Graalman and I have been in the BMX
community for years, from the age of 5 years
old.
I won many Canadian National Championships (10) and was on the national team, my first year in Junior. After shattering my collarbone 8 weeks before the 2009 worlds in Australia, I made the semi's and that was my last major race. I have had chronic pain in my collarbone when riding since then, so decided to enter and compete in the world of bodybuilding. I am now competing at a national level and am going to compete at nationals for the first time August 10th in the Bikini Tall Category. I am nominated and made it to the finals for Status Fitness magazine's Cover Contest over social media. I get two points for each share of the photo, and one point for each like of the photo. Who ever wins this contest gets the cover of Status Fitness and a bio, and the top 25 get a full page spread along with a bio. In my bio, I will be writing how BMX has shaped my world of sports and discipline, and shed some light to the fitness community about the major role that BMX has played in my life and approach to the sport of bodybuilding. The contest goes until January 30, and as of right now, I am in second place. Fan's must be sure to like the photo (not the post), in order for it to count. Also, encouraging other friends to share and/or vote will help me make it to the top! Status Fitness Magazine is the top fitness magazine in North America and would be a dream come true to be featured amongst such high caliber athletes.
Thank you so
much for taking the time to read this request
for support, and am so thankful for my BMX
family's support! |
NEWS FROM CANADA!! 2012 Season Report Intense/Fly National Team |
The 2012 BMX racing season has come to an end and the Intense/Fly National Team based in Canada had plenty of racing action this past summer with tons of races and lots of traveling for its East coast/West coast riding unit; Michael Beaudoin and Raphael Ouellet from Quebec, Corey Walsh, James Hedgcock and Alex Wright from Ontario as well as Brendan Kerik and Kylar Vanee from Alberta! Here is a short report of some of the larger Canadian races the team attended this season. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our riders for a WONDERFUL season, Thanks guys! It was the Abbotsford BMX Club in BC that held the Canadian National Championship this year. Our star on the team, Corey Walsh from Ontario is still a Junior but is extremely talented and it showed this summer as he won the silver medal in TT as well as a silver in the Junior Men race at the Nationals, a tough class! Oldest member on the team Mick Beaudoin also traveled to BC as the head coach of the Quebec Provincial team, Mick did a great Job, and came back with lots of great results from the kids. As for Alex Wright from Ontario he managed to pull a nice 5th place in Canada in the hard 15X class! Finally our little shredder, 11X James Hedgock, repeated his 2009, 2010, 2011 brilliant exploit as he remained the NATIONAL CHAMPION for 2012! Congrats James! As everybody knows Canada was hosting it's first ever UCI BMX Supercross Race this year which is a great stepping stone for our country and our riders! The only member of the team in age and capable of competing in the SX race was obviously Corey. He did pretty well by taking 5th, 4th and 4th for is first experience racing the Elite men! The men’s strength really makes a difference here as Corey was comfortable with the track and jumps but was missing pure FSP at the start! But a great experience to repeat for sure and we can’t wait for next year to watch more Canadian riders reppin the red and white at world cup events! An other great event on our home turf was the Canadian ABA Grands and Brendan Kerik race pretty good in the 17-18x class by standing on the podium both days, while Jimmy Brown, reppin our Sinz Elite products in 2012, came back from a long injury with something to prove, and made it count where it mattered the most by leading the Elite main from start to Finish to take the win in Sundays final! Finally, it was the Crabtree BMX 20th anniversary event this past summer in Crabtree, Quebec, a Club that held many UCI races prior to the first Olympic appearance, and some of our Ontario and Quebec Team riders attended this Eastern event. Top tree spots on the Pro Podium were all Intense/Fly colors! CHECK OUT THIS SMALL EDIT OF THE TEAM FROM THE CRABTREE BMX RACE, Thanks again to all of our riders and to MA$TA for filming & editing, ENJOY!! = https://vimeo.com/55311894 Jagger Co. The BMX Racing Group - BRG & Chase Bicycles is proud to announce that we recently have extended our current sponsorship agreement with Connor Fields for the next 4 years. Chase BMX is proud to announce the extension of Connor Fields contract with the brand until December 31, 2016. Connor Fields has had a great 2012 season on his quest to the Olympics, with a UCI Time Trial World Championship, the USA Cycling National Championship, wins on both the UCI SX & USA BMX Tour, and helping make Chase BMX such a popular brand. Connor joined Chase BMX even before the frames were averrable for sale and during a time of recovery after a knee surgery. In the past 2 years, Chase BMX and Connor have formed a great synergy, with both having unbelievable growth and becoming staples in the BMX market and we are proud of the incredible list of accomplishments and what the future holds for both! When Chase BMX started, Christophe Leveque wanted to try and find the right BMX Pro rider that could not only help the brand be recognizable, but someone who could grow along with the new Company and become the face of the brand at the race track. "I always knew that when we started Chase BMX, we wanted to sign a rider that we could grow alongside with, and have associated with the brand for long term. We are so excited to have Connor be a part of the BMX Racing Group family, as well as see him flourish in the sport that we both love so much. BMX gave me so much over my life, and I am so glad that I can give back to the sport itself as well as Connor." Connor stated "I couldn't be more excited about signing a long term deal with Chase and the BMX Racing Group! It has been really awesome to watch the brand and company grow from its inception when I signed 2 years ago to now being one of the most recognizable brands on the BMX circuit. I am looking forward to developing some signature parts in the future and competing in races all around the world for the next 4 years aboard my Chase bicycle." Pete Dylewski stated: " I am excited to have Connor extend his contract with us. Its been a great 2 years working with him and watching him become one of the best BMXers in the world and I know he is still in the early stages of his true potential in BMX racing. Not only is he of the best on the track, but he always has time for everyone at the track, doing what he can to help promote the sport of BMX. It will be exciting to watch Connor race on the USA BMX & UCI SX tours this year." Chase BMX is proud to offer some of the best frames in BMX racing and to be supported by Fly Racing, Elevn Racing, Shimano, Excess BMX, ODI, Insight, Tioga, KingStar, Kicker, and Thomson. |

Matt Spencer kept the 56-60 Cruisers honest with a 3rd on day one, and a 4th on day 2. Hunter Brown was absolutely on fire with making all 4 mains, taking a win in 11 Cruiser, and a 4th and 5th in 11x. Riley Edwards went 2 and 3 in 17-20 Girls Cruiser as well as got into the stacked 17-20 Girls main on day 2. DK Factory Team Race Report |
Round 1&2 Australian National Series 4-5th January 2013 - The first race of the season is now done and dusted. The Nerang event is always the first one on the calendar and can show who has been working hard over the off season and who had one to many Christmas puddings during the break. As always the DK factory team riders turn up with two things in mind… to win the opening rounds of the Australian National Series and make a statement that the GREEN & BLACK army is a force to be reckoned with. Well true to form this was accomplished from the new DK Professional V2 Frames that the riders had just received to the Team Pit area. ROUND 1: In the Elite Men ranks we had Anthony Dean World #4 who has been training hard leading up to this event coming out with all guns blazing in the opening round winning everything right thru to semi-finals. Unfortunately in the final Anthony pulled a clip and that was all it took to get stuck in the pack and coming across the line in 6th place. In Junior Elite we had Aaron Nottle in his first race in the Green and Black colours dominate all day which also showed in the final taking the win by a good margin and stamping his authority in his first year in Junior Elite. Vet Pro class was new to the National Series and Team Manger Corey Stafford was flying the flag for DK, cruising thru to semifinals and staking a spot in the main event. After a good start he decided to stop by the KIWI team tent which was on the other side of the last corner so that was his day done placing 8th. 15 boys was always going to be a tough class but with current Australian #1 and World #4 Factory DK Athlete Matthew White was always going to be the front runner, he proved this by dominating all day and taking the win in Round 1. Matthew was also racing the Australia V’s New Zealand Test team event which consisted of 4 riders from each country so had cut a lot of laps by the end of the day. ROUND 2: Once again in the Elite Men DK Athlete Anthony Dean turned up with a point to prove after his mishap in round 1, true to form Anthony showed that his training has been working with first straight pull and skills to match blasting his way thru to the main event. Anthony had lane 1 in the main and put down that horse power he has to get to the front by turn 1 where here stayed till the finish. Great Win for Anthony. Aaron Nottle fresh from his win in round 1 was going to have a target on his back but this did not stop him showing why he is the rider that most junior elites should fear if they are line up next to him. Once again Aaron taking a great win in Junior Elite on board the NEW DK professional V2 frame. After dusting himself of from round 1 crash in Vet Pro Corey Stafford was riding well and had 2nd pick for the main event unfortunately another crash would put him out of contention in the final. Tough weekend for the Team manager. Round 2 for 15 boys was always going to be good racing with Matthew White leading from the front. Main Event came round and a slight mishap on the gate cost Matty the hole shot but he managed to fight his way to the front of the pack and on the last corner got swooped by a great move putting Matty back to 2nd for the day. Other DK riders Daniel Willis, Blake Moore and Mitch Hoad had a tough day in the office not quite making it thru to the main events but showed good form leading into rounds 3&4 in Perth, WA. Luke Madill also had a weekend to forget crashing more times than you can count on 1 hand so expect big things come Perth Rounds. On Sunday the DK factory Athletes held a signing session with well over 100 people lining up in the heat to get their favorite athlete to sign posters and anything from helmets, neck braces and jersey’s so big thanks to all the DK fans for showing up. USA Cycling statement about the BMX Program Director position |
Colorado Springs, CO (Jan. 8, 2013) — USA Cycling has announced that Mike King will no longer hold the position of BMX program director. Those responsibilities will be assumed by Jamie Staff, a former BMX world champion, within his recently-appointed position of high performance director of sprint programs. James Herrera will continue as USA Cycling's national BMX coach. "I would like to thank Mike for his contributions to USA Cycling and the USA Cycling BMX program," said Vice President of Athletics Jim Miller. "Mike's involvement in developing and launching the USA Cycling BMX program prior to Beijing was instrumental in the initial success of the program, and I would like to wish him the best in all of his future endeavors." King was hired by USA Cycling in 2007. He was based in Chula Vista, Calif., where he directed the national governing body's BMX program at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (OTC). In 2008, the U.S. won three Olympic medals at the Beijing Games. During King's tenure, American athletes also took home five world championship titles and 14 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup wins. He also oversaw the creation of both of the supercross tracks at the Chula Vista OTC. USA Cycling's BMX program will continued to be based there, and the site will host the 2013 USA Cycling Elite BMX National Championships on May 18. |

From Jamie Staff, New Director of USA BMX - Jamie Staff has taken over the position of Director of the USA BMX Program and looks towards to 2016 & beyond. I would first like to thank Mike King for all his work as Director of the USA BMX program. Mike was responsible for many great developments over the last 6 years and can be proud that he was team leader for the outstanding three medal haul in Beijing 2008. I want to personally wish Mike all success in his future endeavors and would like to thank him on behalf of the Sport of BMX for all his hard work. As the new leader of this program, my goal will be to get the USA BMX Program back to being the dominating force on the World stage. I will be using the skills I developed in my long career as a cyclist, as well as my newly developed skills as a Director/coach to make the USA BMX program a force to be reckoned with. I am excited to get back into the Sport of BMX and look forward to passing down my knowledge to the amazing talent we have in this country. I look forward to working with USA BMX as they help develop the young riders by providing the Worlds best BMX racing series, industry leading bike companies with their support of these young riders as they chase their dreams and then the support from the USOC to help mold future Olympic Champions with all the amazing resources they are able to provide us with. I am also looking forward to working alongside James Herrera, the National BMX coach, as I know he has a wealth of knowledge and experience. I believe we will create a great team to support and guide the champions of tomorrow. I will be challenging all the BMX racers to get the most out of every single training day, rest day and competition day. I look forward to watching them push themselves harder than they ever have before, and then finally I look forward to them stand on top of the podium. Let the journey begin! From Mike King, former Director of USA BMX - I wanted to let everyone know I am no longer employed at USA Cycling as the BMX Program Director. After seven rewarding years at the helm, I would like to extend my gratitude to the USA Cycling organization for giving me the opportunity to lead a highly successful BMX program. I witnessed many great achievements which included three Olympic medals, four Pan American medals, five World Championship titles, and fourteen Supercross World Cup wins. I was also pleased to influence our partners to build the very first BMX Supercross track in North America followed by a second Supercross facility in 2012. Unfortunately, with all that success I ultimately failed to bring home an Olympic medal for the United States in 2012. These are the harsh realities that come with this job and I want to wish my successor all the best leading up to 2016. It comes loaded with young talent and now the experience is in place for even bigger results. I would like to thank the entire USOC Olympic Training Center staff in Chula Vista for all their hard work and dedication to the sport. This includes the operation team, sports medicine, sports performance, dining hall, facility and maintenance, and the security staff. They do such an outstanding job supporting great athletes and now hosting world class BMX events. I will truly miss the day to day interaction and conversations with these genuine people. I would also like to express thanks to USA BMX for hosting our domestic events and being a great partner to the program. The vision we shared will continue to fuel the development pathway for future success and I will also be grateful for that endless support. Moving forward, I have no plans but will enjoy some much needed time off to reflect with my family. I look forward to embracing new opportunities and I am excited to see what the future holds. Onward and upward. |
