OFFICIAL UCI BMX SX RESULTS - FREJUS, FRANCE

UCI BMX SUPERCROSS FINAL PHOTO REPORT, ALA BMX MANIA DOT COM!

THE WORTH OF A PHOTO - You know how they say "A Picture's Worth A Thousand Words"? Well, this one's worth at least that, maybe more. At left, Connor Fields is happy to make yet ANOTHER podium at a UCI BMX SX race, something that he's pretty good at. Next, Marc Willers is pretty stoked to get back on the track and take home a BIG Second Place. Out front, Maris Strombergs is sinking fast, as he hid the fact, all day, that he was sick as a dog with a HIGH temp. "The Machine" is an AWESOME specimen! Back in the pack, #90, Ramiro Marino was mumbling the Spanish equivelent of "CRAP! I was going SO fast today, I should have been on that podium!" Josh Meyers was probably stoked to have made the final and at right, Sam Willoughby was left contemplating "Life At The UCI BMX SX Races, It's Tough At The Top". WAY at the right, The Partisan French Crowd was AMAZING, giving props to the riders, even if they were disappointed that NO French riders made the final, a crushing blow for the home team, but as they say in Francais, "C'set le BMX!" All in all, a pretty good window in to the exciting beast that is UCI BMX Supercross!

Luke Madill had a nice run, going 1,2,2 in his 1/8ths only to get a 5th in his 1/4. Corben Sharrah meets Riley Stair in Turn One! Marc Willers had a good weekend in Frejus with a strong 2nd behind The Golden Maris. More wreck action! Khalen Young prepares to slam Vincent Pelluard. Lauren sez, "Girl, we just went 1st & 2nd in the final!" Sarah sez, "Yep!"
South Africa's, Sifiso Nhlapo takes the lead in to Turn One while Thomas Hamon, Martijn Scherpen and Weston Pope sort things out right behind him. If you watched the race on Freecaster, you'll already know that World Champ, Shanaze Reade joined 'AA Pete' in the broadcast booth. Caroline Buchanan (right) and Blandine Cottereau got tangled up in their 3rd moto and Caroline eventually made her way to hospital to get checked out. OUCH! Sifiso Nhlapo's sponsor, Faithwear just came on board with the UCI as the official UCI SX clothing sponsor & made the scene in Frejus. Lauren Reynolds has her elbows out and rockn' thru the first turn with Amanda Carr. Lauren made her first ever SX podium in Frejus! Another wreck shot, but this one has a story. Men's Semi, Herman's in 2nd, slides out, Luke, Sam, Michal P all crash in to him. Meyers & Marcus dodge the carnage, qualify leaving Luke & Sam in a RUN to the finish line. Sam takes the 4th! Wow!

Press release: Record numbers at UCI BMX Supercross FRÉJUS
Record number of participants at UCI BMX Supercross 2010 finale
A record number of riders entered the final round of the UCI BMX Supercross in FRÉJUS, 198 men and 47 women from 27 countries. With the Olympics just two short years away the interest in the world’s fastest growing action sport is rising. The event kicked off with the time trials to determine which 64 men and 32 women will continue in tomorrow’s finals.

World Cup leader Le Corguillé out of competition due to crash
Laëtitia Le Corguillé, who stood out this season during the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series winning all three previous stops in 2010, is out of competition for this round. This afternoon 8 October in front of her home crowd she crashed during time trials in the third straight just before the last turn. She was down for a while and taken off the track by UCI medical staff for further observation.

Le Corguillé will not be able to compete in tomorrow’s finals as she has was diagnosed with one broken finger and some bruised ribs. Now she is missing the opportunity to dominate the 2010 World Cup season winning all events in one season. However her lead in the standings is big enough to secure the 2010 BMX Supercross overall trophy 2010 for Elite women.

Down under the fastest
Time trial winner was Sarah Walker, the 2009 UCI BMX World Champion from New Zealand. Walker won in 36.362 seconds. The multi talented Caroline Buchanan from Australia was second with 36.457. These two riders are part of 32 that continue to battle it out for the last Supercross win of season. Together with some seven other Elite women BMX riders Walker and Buchanan will also go all out to claim second spot in the 2010 World Cup standings.

Shanaze Reade expert commentator Freecaster.tv
She is present in Frejus looking forward to assist UCI Supercross Freecaster host Pete Dylewski as an expert commentary during the live broadcast on www.Freecaster.tv .

Local French rider rules men’s time trials
Joris Daudet won the men’s time trials in 31.650 seconds and the French rider sits in the hot seat for the moment. Second was Dutchmen Raymon van der Biezen in 31.742. All the other top riders are on their heels. With Willoughby (AUS) third, Fields (USA) fourth and Strombergs (LAT) fifth.

Willoughby trails Strombergs by 64 points for the 2010 World Cup trophy. The Australian will try to stop the Latvian BMX World Champion from taking away his 2009 Supercross title. Connor Fields, who is in third place, can theoretically still win the top spot, but the young American rider needs a small miracle to do so.
