CHASE BMX'S, JORIS DAUDET IS THE NEW UCI BMX ELITE MEN’S WORLD CHAMPION! |
After a great season with multiple wins on the USA BMX Pro Series tour and some great results on the UCI BMX Supercross season, Joris Daudet wins the biggest race of the season (so far) at the 2016 UCI BMX World Championships. |
Joris started the weekend off as being one of the early standouts on the ultra technical track during the various training sessions. Once things kicked off for the Time Trail, Joris was the 2nd fastest rider in the TT qualifier race but when the Medal round came around, one small mistake caused Joris to crash, eliminating a chance to repeat the the Time Trial World Champion. |
When racing kicked off on Sunday thought, Joris was out for redemption, as he was out front each and every race of the day, leading up to the Main event. Once the gate dropped, Joris had his best start of the entire event, and he would need it to hold off the hard charge from last years World Champ Niek Kimmann. Joris was able to ride another incredible lap around the toughest track of the season, hold off any charge from Niek, and take the 2016 UCI BMX World Championship title! It was a great night of racing and for Joris to earn his 2nd Elite Mens World Title, its puts his name in the record books as one of the best BMX Pro riders of all time! |
As always, thanks to our incredible group of partners and supporters of the Chase BMX Pro team! |

From left, Elite Men's riders, #307
Tomas Merta (CZE),
#500 Renato Resende
(BRA) and #994 Julian
Schmidt (GER). The fight is already over, trophies got to their winners, everything is cleaned up and now we are ready to practice for the next session. Its just few days ago, when you could see the best BMX stars in Prague on the BMX track ŘEPY and had a last chance to get a points to the summer Olympic games RIO 2016! From 13th of May till 15th of May the international race took place in Řepy called the UCI King of Prague 2016. It is a race connecting Czeck-moravian cup with preliminary race to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
There were 15 categories, more than 500 racers from 12 different countries, from the kids to the superfast elite men! On Friday everybody rolled off to their first training. The weather was amazing and everybody enjoyed it. The elite men got the chance to try the PRO section and it attracted a lot of BMX Fans to watch their skills. Saturday heats started with six years old kids in 8:30am. The parents cheered for them and support them heart and soul. Sometimes it was too dramatic, but the pressure is understandable. The most difficult moments were ahead.
After all trainings were done, we could start with preliminary races. Step by step the place was getting filled up with the fans. Fortunately the sun didn't leave us, so everybody could enjoy it to the fullest and fight for the best places in the race. The first quarter-final was watched by almost 1200 people so the racers were pushing the pedals as much as they could. Although there were some crashes and sometimes we needed a little emergency assistance, nothing serious happened. All of the people were waiting for the Elite men impatiently, because they were the biggest attraction of the whole weekend. Some of the most favourite racers of the weekend were Elite Women, Romana Labounková from Czech Republic and Daniell Vrenegoor from the Netherlands. Jan Švub, Pešek Marcel were representing Czech Republic as well in the Elite Men and they had to compare their skills with amazing riders Renato Rezende from Brazil or Veide Rihards from Latvia. It was a GREAT lineup of World Class BMXers for the BMX Fans!
From the ladies the best was Romana Labounková from Jeseníky/Czech Republic, who beat the pants off the collegues Daniëll Vrenegoor from the Netherlands and Regula Runge from Germany. In ELITE MEN unfortunately Jan Švub wasn't that lucky and he broke his bike frame during the race and he got "just" third place, but he still managed to run off 5 racers. Just Rihards Veide and Luis Brethauer took advantage of his accident and overtook him. Saturday's Championship Podiums looked like this..... ELITE MEN: 84 – Rihards Veide – Team Lotyšsko 572 – Luis Brethauer – German National Team 913 – Jan Švub – Bikrosclub Řepy, CZ ELITE WOMEN & JUNIOR WOMEN: 27 – Romana Labounková – Bikrosklub Jeseník, CZ 40 – Daniëlle Vrenegoor – Netherlands 124 – Regula Runge – Germany JUNIOR MEN: 145 – Mikuláš Nevrkla – TJ BMX Pardubice, CZ 119 – Jonas Ballbach – Germany 99 – Erik Votava – TJ BMX Pardubice, CZ On 15th of May we woke up to the beautiful sunny day. Unfortunately after the kids trainings, the weather got worse. Even so, the audince still came to watch the race, so the racers could show off. Because of the rain, the track got slippery, so we saw a lot of crashes. The racers didn't care that the weather is not nice, they were fighting to the fullest. Although we could see their exhaustion and happiness when they could wrap up. Everybody enjoyed the Elite men again racing over the PRO section where they can jump over 5 metres high. After the preliminary races, we got to the first fights of the final places, which leaded to some of the best achievements, but injuries as well. Our both representans Jan Švub and Romana Labounková got to the FINAL round! Both of them drived the best race we could have ever seen and it brought them to the desired first place. Thanks to this race the brasilian racer Renato Rezendes, german reppresentant Brethauer qualified to the RIA 2016 and our racer Honza Švub got really nice points, who is really close to it as well. Sunday's Championship Podiums looked like this..... ELITE MEN: 913 – Jan Švub – Bikrosclub Řepy, CZ 572 – Luis Brethauer – German National Team 994 – Julian Schmidt – German National Team ELITE MEN & JUNIOR WOMEN: 27 – Romana Labounková – Bikrosklub Jeseník, CZ 40 – Daniëlle Vrenegoor – Netherlands 124 – Regula Runge – Germany JUNIOR MEN: 145 – Mikuláš Nevrkla – TJ BMX Pardubice, CZ 119 – Jonas Ballbach – Germany 160 – Sebastian Sulka – Slovak cycling federation The whole weekend wouldn't be possible without our sponsors: ÚAMK, the capital city Prague (European city of sports 2016), Fany vše pro gastronimii, Praha 17 – Řepy, Impra, Lumen,Klaro, AGE project, Janda Servis, Dáňa, Pergl a partneři, Stěhování, JUMBO, Judr.
